Penny Marshall had plucked this precocious, 11-year-old kid from the Bronx to play the younger version of Tom Hanks' character, Josh Baskin. This comic fantasy-fable about a boy who literally became 'Big' overnight, was a giant box-office hit. Moscow was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in a Comedy. On Wednesday, October 19, 2016, Girl Be Heard, the girl-led global movement and theatre collective, will honor Danai Gurira and Fran Hauser with the prestigious Fairy Godmother Award at their Gotta Love Girls Gala in New York City. John Jay College of Criminal Justice will honor Lin-Manuel Miranda, Grammy Award-winning composer, lyricist, performer, 2015 MacArthur Foundation Award recipient and 2016 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama, as part of its Educating for Justice Gala.

What wasn't as highly publicized was a second honor Miranda received just hours before the Pulitzer announcement was made.

A Spanish language, English subtitled video for Telemundo/NBC features the author/star and his parents.

The special award and accompanying prize of $50,000 were presented to Miranda at a ceremony in New York City on December 14, 2015, and BroadwayWorld has a video of the presentation right here!

HAMILTON and IN THE HEIGHTS creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will receive the Nuestro Orgullo Award during this year's Puerto Rican Day Parade. Fellow Puerto Rican theater star Rita Moreno will be this year's grand marshall at the parade.
