Ford Theatres presents Urban Bush Women: Hair & Other Stories for one performance only, Friday August 30 at 8:00pm at the Ford Theatres.

I am eager to implement what we have learned and to be able to grow from the first edition of the EARTH workshop series. I am looking forward to seeing choreographer Jordan Ryder's creation, and especially to continue the dialogue about what we can do to avert the crisis of global warming.

The newly renovated Plains School, located at One Plains Avenue in Portsamouth's West End, is a collaboration between Pontine Theatre and the City of Portsmouth.

The American Dance Festival (ADF) will award the 2019 Balasaraswati/Joy Anne Dewey Beinecke Endowed Chair for Distinguished Teaching to longtime Paul Taylor Dance Company rehearsal director Bettie de Jong. A ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in Reynolds Industries Theater at the opening night performance of the Paul Taylor Dance Company.

Known for his multifaceted musical personality, composer/musician Wayne Horvitz displays his remarkably singular and distinguishable sound in two new recordings: his debut pianos/keys-bass-drums trio album The Snowghost Sessions (Songlines, 10.05.18) and his debut orchestral CD Those Who Remain (National Sawdust Tracks, 10.12.18). From the origins of modern dance in 1926 to Old Town Scottsdale in 2018, the award-winning Martha Graham Dance Company takes center stage at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 10.

Under the direction of Charles O. Anderson, Dorothy O'Shea Overbey and Gesel Mason, The University of Texas at Austin's award-winning dance company Dance Repertory Theatre returns to the stage in Fall For Dance, November 6-11 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre. An examination of embodiment and innovation through contemporary ballet, Fall For Dance features works by renowned guest artists, including Gregory Dolbashian and Sidra Bell. 

One month after the close of its 86th season, Jacob's Pillow announces record-breaking ticket sales for its acclaimed summer dance festival. The organization reports over $2.5 million in ticket sales, an increase of 13% when compared with 2017; over 40,000 tickets were sold, an increase of 5%, when compared with last year. The season boasts 10,000 unique ticket buyers, an increase of 8% and the largest number since the organization began tracking this particular indicator in 2005.

Art House Productions in partnership with Friends of Loew's  proudly present the 9th annual Your Move: Modern Dance Festival featuring Bessie Jury Award recipient Kyle Marshall at The Landmark Loew's Jersey Theater, 54 Journal Square Plaza, Jersey City, NJ, 07306, adjacent to the Journal Square PATH Station, on Friday November 2 at 7:30 pm and Sunday November 4 at 2:00 pm and 5:00pm. The galleries of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will come to life this fall with dancer-led tours, choreographed by the Museum's first Choreographer-in-Residence, Peter DiMuro. The tours, part of a new initiative to animate the galleries with contemporary performances and integrate dance into exhibitions and programming, will take place Oct. 11-25 with a special performance at the Oct. 18 Third Thursday event.

Jacob's Pillow announces the second season of residencies offered through the Pillow Lab, a year-round incubator of new work that encompasses a robust series of customized artist residencies. Built from the Jacob's Pillow mission as an integral component of Vision '22-the organization's five-year strategic plan which drives the Pillow's transition into a year-round institution-the Pillow Lab strengthens the artistic core of Jacob's Pillow by increasing resources that nurture the process of choreography and proactively investing in the development of new work.

As part of a bold new initiative to animate the galleries with contemporary performances and integrate dance into exhibitions and programs, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's first Choreographer-in-Residence, Peter DiMuro, is designing new programs including a dancer-led tour throughout the Museum in October.

The New England Foundation for the Arts has awarded $1,790,000 through the National Dance Project (NDP) to support the creation of 20 new dance works that will tour the United States.

Irondale is proud to present the New York premiere of Sea of Common Catastrophe, a surreal multimedia theater work that grapples with complicity in the face of rapid urban change. Designed and directed by Jeff Becker, who leads a team of fellow New Orleans-based artists, Sea of Common Catastrophe follows three long-time residents of a tiny seaside town whose lives are uprooted when a compelling stranger arrives. Inspired by a passage from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novella Sea of Lost Time-where a town drowns on a Sunday afternoon but persists, submerged, in its daily life, as if the deluge had never occurred-Sea of Common Catastrophe uses spectacular lighting and video, live music, and an innovative two-story set to evoke a changing landscape of upscale living and chic restaurants that suddenly transforms into a magical sunken world.

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.
