The Barn Theatre in Cirencester has announced that their reimagined production of the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical Once has extended its run at the Cotswold theatre until 19th August. The production forms part of the Barn Theatre’s fifth anniversary season.
It will mark the singer songwriters first record in over four years and follows a period that found Hansard moving between collaborative work with Eddie Vedder and Cat Power to live performances with The Frames and Markéta Irglová/The Swell Season. The effect of which helped give direction to ‘All That Was East Is West Of Me Now.'

There's not very many musicals like Once, which might be why you rarely see it tackled regionally. The entire cast is tasked with playing some kind of instrument, making the show feel more like an immersive folksy concert with a plot.
