Rush Hour Concerts presents its 14th annual Summer Concert Series featuring free concerts of 'great music for busy lives' at River North's historic St. James Cathedral, 65 E. Huron Street, June 4 - August 27, 2013. In a format that reinvents classical music for life in a new century, concerts take place every Tuesday evening, beginning with a pre-concert food and beverage reception with the artists at 5:15 pm in the cathedral foyer, followed by a 30-minute concert at 5:45 pm. For its 12-13 season finale, Atlanta Ballet explores the theme of love through both classic and innovative choreography. Highlighting the athleticism and passion of Atlanta Ballet's dancers, these performances find new meaning in the world's greatest love stories. Love Stories will feature the Atlanta Ballet premiere of "Requiem for a Rose" by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and the return of "Prayer of Touch" by Atlanta Ballet's new resident choreographer Helen Pickett. The program will also feature the White Swan pas de deux from choreographer Matthew Bourne's revolutionary "Swan Lake" - regarded as a modern day classic since its world premiere in 1995. (more...)

The MET Orchestra concludes its 2012-2013 season at Carnegie Hall with the much anticipated return of Music Director James Levine leading the orchestra on Sunday, May 19 at 3:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Maestro Levine is set to conduct the prelude to Act I of Wagner's Lohengrin; Schubert's Symphony No. 9, 'Great'; and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58, with pianist Evgeny Kissin. Maestro Levine last performed at Carnegie Hall with the MET Orchestra on Sunday, April 10, 2011 with Mr. Kissin. (more...)

The Company will commence its 50 year celebration this July with a tour to London, England where they will perform at the London Coliseum. In a sweeping gesture of gratitude to its home city, Boston Ballet will present the first-ever Night of Stars gala on Boston Common - a free performance for the greater-Boston community. Programming includes an astounding range of works, featuring stunning classics La Bayadere and Cinderella, two cutting-edge repertory programs containing American and world premieres, and Balanchine's masterpiece, Jewels. Bringing the season to a triumphant close, Boston Ballet will tour to the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and end with performances at the Koch Theater in New York City's Lincoln Center. (more...)

Spoleto Festival USA Announces 2013 Chamber Music Program by BWW News Desk - Mar 11, 2013
Geoff Nuttall, now approaching his fourth season as Spoleto Festival USA's Charles E. and Andrea L. Volpe Director for Chamber Music, has announced the complete 2013 chamber music program for the Charleston, South Carolina based performing arts festival. The 33-concert Bank of America Chamber Music Series comprises 11 programs, each repeated three times throughout the Festival at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm daily. Highlights of the 2013 season include a world premiere by composer-in-residence Samuel Carl Adams and the Festival debuts of the Brentano String Quartet, young Russian pianist Pavel Kolesnikov, and percussionist Steven Schick. Returning to the series in 2013 are bassist Anthony Manzo, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, pianist Pedja Muzijevic, violinist Livia Sohn, flutist Tara Helen O'Connor, clarinetist Todd Palmer, oboist James Austin Smith, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
