On Sunday, May 20, at The Annenberg Theatre in Palm Springs Marisa Moehno of Murrietta Valley High School and Garrett Hoy of Musical Theatre University were named the LucieA Award Winners for Outstanding Actress and Actor, respectively, at the Lucie Arnaz Awards for High School Musical Theatre. The Lucie Arnaz Awards were created and founded by David Green, who's Broadway alumni include Tony nominees Stephanie Block, Susan Egan, Lindsay Mendez and Matthew Morrison, to name a few, in collaboration with Ms Arnaz in an effort to support, sustain, grow and inspire quality performing arts experiences for young people in The Inland Empire.

Awards season continues! Just yesterday Drama Desk nominees gathered at the Hotel Edison's Friedman's (W. 47th Street) to meet for the first time. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special occasion and we're bringing you portraits of nominees below!

NEXTGEN BROADWAY, the premiere performing group from David Green's Musical Theatre University in Southern California have recorded an anthem to support the efforts of March for Our Lives, the organization which supports the end of gun violence in schools, following the tragic event at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14. A FIGHT FOR OUR LIVES was recorded as a way for students to utilize their voices to add to the call for action to end gun violence in our nation and our nation's schools. You can Link To LISTEN TO THE SONG here.

Two River Theater (Artistic Director John Dias, Managing Director Michael Hurst) presents the world premiere of The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder, adapted by David Greenspan, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll. The press opening is Friday, February 23 at 7pmand performances will continue through Sunday, March 18 in Two River's Marion Huber Theater, 21 Bridge Avenue, Red Bank, NJ.  Tickets are available from 732.345.1400 or tworivertheater.org.

As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, Broadway star Jan Maxwell passed away at 61 years of age after a battle with cancer. The star is survived by her husband, actor/playwright Robert Emmet Lunney, and their son William Maxwell-Lunney.

After a smash run last fall, Playwrights Horizons will present MILES FOR MARY, a new play by The Mad Ones. Directed by Lila Neugebauer, MILES FOR MARY received critical acclaim during its fall 2016 run at The Bushwick Starr.

Archway Theatre welcomes the children's theater production of 'The Frog Prince and His Story Time Pals' to the stage for performances 11 a.m. Todays and 2 p.m. Sundays Nov. 25 through Dec. 17. People of all ages will delight in this staging of these classic fairytales about charmed princesses, spell-bound princes, and enchanted animals. Playwrights Horizons announced today that stage and screen star Jesse Tyler Ferguson ('Modern Family,' Fully Committed, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) has joined the cast of LOG CABIN, the world premiere of a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Jordan Harrison (Marjorie Prime, Maple and Vine, Doris to Darlene at Playwrights; 'Orange Is the New Black').

Due to critical acclaim and popular demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced an extension of their world premiere production of The Treasurer, a new play by Max Posner (Judy).

Playwrights Horizons presents THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play will be the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.

Julian Fleisher,whose New York City playground ranges from Lincoln Center to LES dive bars, sets up shop at Joe's Pub this fall with a series of concerts kicking off Thursday, September 28, in a show titled Pop Music. Joining Fleisher for a rollicking and genre-busting journey through the music he loves is the inimitable Martha Plimpton.
