History Theatre to Showcase Underground Music of the '80s in 'COMPLICATED FUN'

Malibu Playhouse to Continue Season with Craig Wright's THE PAVILION

Malibu Playhouse continues their 2016 season with another limited-run critically acclaimed production: The Pavilion written by Craig Wright, the creator and executive producer of the dramatic series, Greenleaf, the first original series produced by Oprah Winfrey, which will begin airing in June. The Pavilion is helmed by Jeremy Skidmore, world renowned theater director and current Guest Artistic Director of the Malibu Playhouse.

Broadway's Debbie Bisno Named Resident Producer of McCarter Theatre

McCarter Theatre Center's Resident Playwright/Artistic Director Emily Mann and Managing Director Timothy J. Shields have announced Debbie Bisno as the theatre's new Resident Producer. Ms. Bisno, a Broadway producer with two decades in the commercial and non-profit theatrical arenas, assumes her new leadership role immediately. Ms. Bisno will be based in Princeton as an important member of the artistic team at McCarter, and she will maintain and expand McCarter's relationships in NY, regionally, and abroad. Her existing company, Bisno Productions, will continue operations in Manhattan.

HOME is a live art installation that unravels the question of 'what is home?' created by artist-collaborators John Moletress and Eames Armstrong. Images of home constructed from child's toys, clothing and musical instruments are rendered unstable, destroyed and reconstructed in unfamiliar forms by the performers. This 5 hour durational performance will take place in the front windows of Atlas Performing Arts Center today, March 5, 4:00-9:00p. This event is presented as part of INTERSECTIONS FESTIVAL 2016.

The Sixth Annual Clive Barnes Awards for Theatre and Dance will be held this afternoon, January 11, at 3 p.m. at The Walter Reade Theatre, Lincoln Center. One recipient from each category will be chosen and the winners announced today. All finalists will receive a cash prize, with the winners in each category receiving an award of $5,000.

Steppenwolf's Chicago Premiere of THE FLICK Begins in February

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere of Annie Baker's 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, The Flick. Under the direction of Dexter Bullard, who also directed the Chicago premiere of Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, the cast features Danny McCarthy, Caroline Neff and Travis Turner as the three hapless employees of The Flick movie house. Previews begin February 4 (opening night is February 14; press performances are Saturday, February 13 at 3pm and Tuesday, February 16 at 7:30pm) and runs through May 8, 2016 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). The National Theatre of Great Britain's North American wing (Tim Levy, Producer) in collaboration with Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, and Patrick Daly have announced the North American premiere of playwright Lucy Prebble's award-winning new play The Effect. With direction by David Cromer, the entirely American production of The Effect will open at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue) in March 2016. Additional information will be announced shortly.
