NY Gilbert & Sullivan to Launch THE ART OF THE PATTER SONG Program, 10/15

Join Albert Bergeret, Founder and Artistic Director of America's Preeminent Gilbert & Sullivan Repertory Ensemble, New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, along with several NYGASP colleagues and G&S enthusiasts, as they launch a new educational component to their annual season of G&S events. The Art of the Patter Song, a new unique and enlightening 5-week course delving into the G&S repertoire begins October 15 (7PM).

CINE, the film and television non-profit renowned for its Golden Eagle Awards, announced the winners of its inaugural Film Scoring Competition for Emerging Composers at the 2013 CINE Annual Awards Gala at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington, DC on June 17. CINE also honored its winning filmmakers, and presented producers Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa with its Lifetime Achievement Award; David Lyle, CEO of the National Geographic Channels, with its Leadership Award; and Thom Beers, CEO of FremantleNorth America, with its Trailblazer Award.

Grammy-winning storyteller, humorist, and host Garrison Keillor is back on the road with the nation's premier live radio show, A Prairie Home Companion (APHC). Now in its 39th season, APHC returns to the Filene Center where Keillor will lead an ensemble cast through comedy sketches and musical interludes, as well as perform his signature monologue, "The News from Lake Wobegon."

The 26th Columbia University Film Festival Runs 5/3-9

Columbia University School of the Arts Film Program and The Film Society of Lincoln Center have announced they will co-present the 26th Annual Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF), a week-long program of screenings, dramatic readings and special events in New York. The celebration will continue with events to be announced for June in Los Angeles. This marks the second year that the festival is co-presented by the Film Society.

Pinafore (Jan. 11th -13) and The Yeomen of the Guard (Jan. 18-20) when the company stages its gala return to NY City Center (West 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues) . Under the artistic and music direction of Albert Bergeret, the company has, for 38 seasons, presented over 2,600 performances throughout the United States, Canada, and England. Incorporating a 25-piece orchestra, its productions feature contemporary energy while retaining a traditional respect for each of the G&S masterpieces.
