DTF to Open 2013 Season with Theresa Rebeck's THE SCENE, Starring Tim Daly

Dorset Theatre Festival will start off their 2013 Season with the biting hit comedy The Scene by Theresa Rebeck. Theresa Rebeck, a DTF Writer in Residence, is well known for her recent Broadway hits - Seminar starring Alan Rickman and Dead Accounts starring Katie Holmes - as well has her popular NBC Series Smash. Colt Coeur's Play Hotel reading series will present an industry reading of Laura Jacqmin's Dental Society Midwinter Meeting on Monday, May 20th at 3pm at TheaterLab, 357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor in Manhattan. Brian Anthony Wilson, Tim Daly and More Set for DTF's Upcoming Season

A host of Broadway talent as well as several film and television stars will be appearing on the Dorset Theatre Festival stage this summer. Tim Daly, well known for his work on Wings (NBC) and Private Practice (ABC) will headline in the first production of the season, Theresa Rebeck's The Scene. Joining him will be Geoffrey Arend (ABC's Body of Proof) and well-known NY stage actress Mary Bacon (most recently seen in the Michael John LaChiusa/Sybille Pearson musical Giant as well as on Bway in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll). They will be joined by newcomer Carolyn Holding (The Philadelphia Story/Chautauqua). Adrienne Campbell-Holt will direct the production. (more...)

Julia Jones, Erica Rotstein and Aaron Schildkrout will host Colt Coeur's Spring Benefitreunion reading of their inaugural world-premiere production. Under the direction of Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Recall, Colt Coeur) original cast members Teddy Bergman (Peter and the Starcatcher, Broadway), Erin Felgar (Billy Witch, Studio 42), Kate Cullen Roberts (Breakfast at Tiffany's, Broadway), Matt Stadelmann (American Sligo, Rattlestick), and Joe Tippett (Fish Eye, Colt Coeur) will be joined by two-time TONY nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger (Peter and the Starcatcher, Broadway) in the play that critics called "wildly charming," "pitch-perfect" and "Pinter meets My So-Called Life" when it premiered in 2010. Celia Keenan-Bolger (PETER AND THE STARCATCHER) and Julia Jones (TWILIGHT films) will join Adrienne Campbell-Holt (RECALL, FISH EYE), Matt Stadelmann (SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN) and other Colt Coeur company members in a performance of new plays by Brooklyn students ages 10 to 16, in the 'Celebration of Play-Making Workshop'. The event is the culmination of Colt Coeur's week-long theatre intensive offered free-of-charge to public school students. The evening will take place at St. Ann's Warehouse at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn and will begin with a reception at 6:30pm, followed by a 7pm performance. Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances on Thursday, February 7 and runs through Today, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre. (more...)
