How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying comes to Theatre Orb Fri. September 4 through Sun. September 20, 2020

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced this year's six recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions. The commissioned writers are Kate Attwell, Mia Chung, Noah Diaz, Julia Izumi, Ife Olujobi, and Stacey Rose.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Michael R. Jackson's A Strange Loop has officially won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included: Will Arbery's Heroes of the Fourth Turning and David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori's Soft Power.

The Pulitzer Prize Board today will present the 2020 award winners' (originally scheduled for Monday, April 20) for Prizes in Journalism, Books, Drama and Music. Who will win this year? Tune in right here at 3pm to watch the announcement live!

Back in that age we call golden, Broadway marquees were frequently set ablaze by long-running plays that producers looking to turn a profit lovingly referred to as boulevard comedies. These were typically middlebrow laugh machines expertly crafted by the likes of Mary Chase, Neil Simon or Abe Burrows (Think HARVEY, THE ODD COUPLE or CACTUS FLOWER), involving contemporary everyday characters in realistic situations containing just enough sentiment to make you care about what happens next, while maybe even wrapping up with an uncontroversial, heartwarming message.

Caveat NYC will present Sim Yan Ying's I LOVE WHITE MEN on January 24 - 26, 2020 at Caveat NYC at 21 A Clinton Street. Show times are January 24 at 7pm, January 25 at 1:30pm & 7pm, and January 26 at 7pm. Tickets are available for advance purchase at $20 at caveat.nyc, and $22 at the door.

The Centenary Stage Company continues their tradition of nurturing young artists and proudly presents the Young Performers Workshop Winter Festival of Shows. The 2019/2020 winter productions include: Anything Goes, George M and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The productions will run from December 14 through Dec 22. All shows will take place in the Little Theatre, located on the campus of Centenary University at 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, NJ. Tickets price at $12.50 for Adults and $10.00 for Children under 12.

Michael Longoria has released a sultry music video for 'Kiss Me (Like They Do In The Movies)', an original song written by Michael Longoria and arranged by James Dobinson. The music video is directed by Matt Simpkins and stars Longoria and Anthony Crouchelli. 'Kiss Me (Like They Do In The Movies)' is the first single from Longoria's new studio album, Michael Longoria: Like They Do In The Movies, available now at www.BroadwayRecords.com, www.Amazon.com, in stores and across digital platforms. The Lark has announced that playwrights Xavier Galva and Ife Olujobi have been selected as the recipients of the 2019-20 New Voices Fellowship, supported by the Jerome Foundation. This year long residency is designed to support extraordinary playwrights of color under 30, in order to to help address the lack of inclusion of early career playwrights of color in the field. The Fellowship includes a cash award of $15,000, plus a $3,000 Opportunity Fund for the purposes of research, travel, or other expenses, as well as access to The Lark's artistic resources and support. The New Voices program is part of a portfolio of Fellowships at The Lark, which aims to engage a diverse community of playwrights from around the world, at various places in their careers.

Walking into the theater, you're immediately struck by the strength of the production value, most prominently featured by the impressive wrap around set that was sadly underutilized.

The Summer Festival, August 8-18, 2019, is the culmination of 5 weeks of preparation by Young Company students and their professional Directors, Music Directors, Choreographers, Stage Managers, and Design Teams. Performed by actors in grades 4-12, The Young Company Summer Festival includes 6 fully staged productions: family friendly Freckleface Strawberry The Musical, hilarious murder mystery Curtains, and the toe tapping classic Singin' in the Rain. High School Students continue the fun with the madcap musical farce Lucky Stiff, as well as musical satire How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and finally the action-packed adventures of She Kills Monsters.
