Tisha Campbell began her on-screen career with an appearance on The Big Blue Marble (1974), followed by roles in children’s television programs including Kids Are People Too, Unicorn Tales, and Captain Kangaroo. She made her feature film debut at age 17 in Little Shop of Horrors (1986), portraying Chiffon. After graduating from Arts High School in Newark, she starred in the NBC series Rags to Riches (1987–1988) and appeared in Spike Lee’s School Daze (1988).
Her film career expanded with roles in Rooftops (1989), Another 48 Hrs. (1990), House Party (1990), House Party 2 (1991), Boomerang (1992), and House Party 3 (1994). She later starred in Sprung (1997), The Last Place on Earth (2002), and appeared in Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008). On television, she played Gina Waters-Payne on Martin (1992–1997) and starred in the Hallmark Hall of Fame film The Sweetest Gift (1998). She later led the ABC sitcom My Wife and Kids (2001–2005), winning an NAACP Image Award in 2003.
Campbell continued her television work with roles in Rita Rocks (2008–2009), The Protector (2011), and the Disney Channel film Lemonade Mouth (2011). She appeared in the ABC sitcom Dr. Ken (2015–2017) and portrayed Simone Biles’ mother in The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar (2018). Additional television work includes the ABC drama pilot The Holmes Sisters (2018). In music, she released the album Tisha (1993) and contributed to the Sprung soundtrack (1997), later releasing singles including “Steel Here” (2015), “Lazy Bitch” (2016), “I Don’t Wanna Be Alone Tonight” (2018), and “22 Summers” (2019).
