Steve Fickinger BIO

Steve Fickinger is a Tony Award winning Producer with over 30 years of experience and accomplishments in the Entertainment Industry. Highlights include 20 years at Walt Disney Studios where as Vice President of Development, he oversaw the development of over 15 animated features. Moving on to become the VP of Creative Development for Disney Theatrical Productions, Steve oversaw development of 6 Broadway shows, personally developing the record breaking National Tour of Disney's "High School Musical," the Tony Award winning Broadway production of "Newsies," and Disney's long-running Broadway smash production of "Alladin." Independently, productions include "Dear Evan Hansen", which won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Musical.  Steve is currently developing a number of animated and hybrid films for Warner Bros. Studios. He is also Executive Producer of Broadway’s Rock of Ages at The Bourbon Room in Hollywood, and currently in developing several new shows for Broadway and National Tour.

Rock of Ages Hollywood will open on January 15th at a specially built performance venue and nightlife destination on Hollywood Boulevard named after the venue at the center of the show, The Bourbon Room. The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce casting for the highly anticipated premiere of Disney's Aladdin, a new stage musical. The show will feature Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Jonathan Freeman takes the stage to embody the role he originally voiced for the film, the Royal Vizier Jafar. He is joined by comedic favorite Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Aladdin restores a trio of characters originally conceived by the film's creators: Omar, Babkak, and Kassim, played by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Brian Gonzales, and Brandon O'Neill, respectively. Broadway's Casey Nicholaw will direct. With book by Chad Beguelin and hit songs including 'Friend Like Me,' 'Prince Ali,' and the Oscar-winning 'A Whole New World' by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Aladdin will enchant audiences of all ages.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) is proud to announce the Millburn, New Jersey theater will open its 2011-2012 season with the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. The 5th Avenue Theatre is proud to announce that it will produce the premiere of Aladdin, a new stage musical adapted from Disney's 1992 animated feature film. Aladdin, featuring the Academy Award®-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, previews on July 7 and runs until July 31, 2011. The show replaces Oklahoma!, which will be postponed until the 2011-2012 season.

MTI to License Disney's CAMP ROCK Beginning Nov. 2010


Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP), the division responsible for such smash Broadway hits as THE LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and MARY POPPINS, will debut CAMP ROCK: THE MUSICAL, a stage adaptation of the CAMP ROCK 2008 and 2010 Disney Channel Original Movies with songs from both movies and a story based on CAMP ROCK 2: THE FINAL JAM. The show will be available for licensing in November 2010 through Disney's exclusive licensing partner, Music Theatre International (MTI). The theatrical version is a seventy-minute musical that focuses on the storyline of the sequel and features over a dozen hit songs from both popular musical movies.

On Monday, May 24, the National Arts Club hosted a pre-release celebration party for Mickey Rapkin's 'Theater Geek.' 'Theater Geek' tells the story of Stagedoor Manor's rich history and amazing track record for producing the next generation of stars. 'Theater Geek,' penned by GQ Senior Editor and author of 'Pitch Perfect,' is published by Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc. and will be released June 1, 2010.

Tix Now On Sale For Disney's WHEN YOU WISH In San Jose 4/17-26


Tickets are now on sale for Disney's When You Wish, presented by Marquee Productions, the alumni division of Children's Musical Theater San Jose. This original work premieres for two weeks only April 17 - 26 at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose. Tickets are $30 and support ongoing arts-education programs for the nationally recognized youth theater company.
