Rachel Bay Jones

Rachel Bay Jones has built a career spanning Broadway, television, and stages across the country. She first appeared on Broadway in 1989 as an understudy in Meet Me in St. Louis and spent the early years of her career touring with Grand Hotel and performing internationally in Rent and Evita—in German and Spanish, respectively.

She returned to Broadway in the 2009 revival of Hair before joining the original company of the Tony Award-winning revival of Pippin as Catherine. One of her most acclaimed roles came soon after, when she originated Heidi Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen. Jones began with the musical at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., continued with it Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre, and made the move with the production to Broadway in 2016. Her performance earned her the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Jones has continued to balance theater with a busy television career. Her stage work has included a concert presentation of Sweet Charity at Merkin Concert Hall and a turn as Diana in Next to Normal for the Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage series. In 2023, she originated the role of Marianne in Stephen Sondheim's final musical, Here We Are.

On television, Jones has appeared in Modern Family, Grey's Anatomy, and God Friended Me, among other series. She joined The Good Doctor as Salen Morrison in 2021 and later played Audrey McAllister on Young Sheldon, a role she continued in the spinoff Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.
