For years – for decades, really – I have advocated that Music City tourism would benefit from a sit-down production of a country music-themed musical, one that would appeal to a wide range of aficionados and would showcase the musical library of a beloved figure in the pantheon of Nashville music. Finally, Studio Tenn delivers the perfect vehicle for that with the world premiere production of Here You Come Again, featuring songs written by or recorded by Dolly Parton (the Patron Saint of Tennessee aka The Smoky Mountain Songbird).

Written by Chips Moman, Lee released this as his fifth single from his album, ‘H-e-e-ere’s Johnny!’ Johnny Lee recently announced his ‘Hey Bartender, Last Call: The Farewell Tour.’ Throughout his career, Lee has achieved 26 Top 20 singles and became an integral part of the ‘Urban Cowboy’ movement that took the world by storm in the early 80s.

On Sunday, December 4, Nashville's CabaRay Showroom proved to be the perfect location to surprise music legends Ray Stevens and Brenda Lee with The Cecil Scaife Visionary Award. Stevens, who was in on the planning of the event, thought he was giving the award to Lee and Lee thought she was giving it to Stevens.

British vocalist RUMER's take on “The Song Remembers When,” is out now. The country ballad, previously a hit single for Trisha Yearwood, is the latest from Nashville Tears, which features the songs of Hugh Prestwood, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee. It is the 3rd advance track, after “Bristlecone Pine” and “Hard Times For Lovers,” available early with album pre-order before the release of Nashville Tears on April 24 with Cooking Vinyl.

Sometimes with adversity comes a certain freedom. When Nat Freedberg, guitarist, singer and songwriter behind The Upper Crust, The Titanics and The Flies (among other stellar Boston bands) suffered nerve damage and surgery, he was despondent at first when confronting his guitar playing. As he recounts it, “It occurred to me that I'd never been a technical virtuoso to begin with, then I felt better straightaway.” The prospect of ending his decades-long career in music fueled the idea of recording a collection of his unreleased songs, albeit with no real strategy or a real band. Better Late Than Never comes out Friday, February 15th on Rum Bar Records.

The York Symphony Orchestra will present April in Paris on Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York. The performance will feature guest conductor, Kelly Corcoran, who was named "Best Classical Conductor" in 2015 by the Nashville Scene, and world-class vocalist, Mandy Barnett. Several Grand Ole Opry performers mingled with fans, when veteran pianist Tim Atwood celebrated his new album with an old-fashioned after-church picnic in Hendersonville, Tennessee, on Sunday, August 14. Atwood, who was the pianist for the Opry's house band for 38 years, has released 'That Old Time Religion' (i2i Records), his first gospel album since leaving the Opry in 2014.
