MahiraKakkar is an award winning actor, writer and dialect coach. As an actor Broadway: Life of Pi. Select Off Broadway: LCT3, TFANA, Primary Stages, Atlantic, Classic Stage, Playwrights Horizons, Rattlestick, Public Theatre. Select Regional: Shakespeare Theatre, Huntington Theatre, Old Globe, Denver Center, OSF, Baltimore Center Stage, Hartford Stage, McCarter. Film and TV: “Manifest,” “A Suitable Boy,” Hank and Asha (Slamdance Best Actress award, BronzeLens Award), Sweet Refuge, “Law and Order: CI,” “New Amsterdam,” and others. A recent recipient of a NYSCA grant, Mahira has written for publications in India and the US. Upcoming commission at Huntington Theatre. Mahira is also a dialect coach (The Lunchbox, Unaccustomed Earth and others) specifically for South Asian dialects. Proud member of The Actors Center, NY. Training: Juilliard, Harold Guskin.
