BAAD! to Present BlakTinX Performance Festival Starting This Month


BAAD!--The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance forges forward with the 22th annual BLAKTINX FESTIVAL including a new dance concert by noted choreographer Arthur Aviles as well as a workshop of a new musical entitled I Am Sylvia, based on the queer/trans activist Sylvia Rivera.

BlakTinX Series ignites Fall Season at BAAD


The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance kicks off its fall season with the BlakTinX Performance Series from September 25 to November 23, 2019. This annual multidisciplinary festival inaugurated in 2002 celebrates art and performance by Black, Latinx and artists of color. The festival opens with the prolific choreographer Maria Bauman-Morales (formerly of Urban Bush Women) and features premiere dance works by contemporary choreographers.BAAD! is located in a neo gothic style building at 2474 Westchester Avenue. Oscar Nominee Renee Taylor Among Award Winners At The United Solo Gala


After a run of ten weeks that presented 130 one-person theatre productions from six continents, the world's largest solo theatre festival concluded its ninth season at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York by presenting this year's awards. On behalf of the United Solo Academy, Omar Sangare, the artistic director of the festival, presented the United Solo Special Award to Renee Taylor for her solo show "My Life on a Diet." In her acceptance speech, Ms. Taylor said: "I'm very grateful for receiving an award from Untied Solo - it's a very prestigious honor" and added "I'm very happy to be touring the country with 'My Life on a Diet' - and now I can say I am an award-winning show!"

The 16th Annual Hispanic Television Summit Lineup is Dominated by Women of Power


The line-up of speakers, moderators, celebrities and award recipients for the 16 th Annual Hispanic Television Summit is dominated by women of power. They comprise 50% of the diverse line-up of leaders from advertising, brands, producers, networks, cable, satellite, and OTT. The summit is a 'must attend' event for those in the business of TV and video for Hispanics. It is presented by two Future U.S. television industry brands, Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News, and scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the New York Marriott Marquis.

This marks the second year that the award-winning director of Off-Broadway hits La Lupe: My Life and My Destiny and DC-7 The Roberto Clemente Story steps in to helm the work. The play interweaves two holiday classics,The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, and creates a queer, Latino play about a gay couple who go on a psychedelic trip through their lives one Christmas Eve. The play will be presented December 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 8pm; Saturday, December 10 at 3pm at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. BAADAss Women Festival Kicks Off 3/11


?BAAD! - The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance forges forward with the 16th annual BAAD!ASS WOMEN FESTIVAL, celebrating the empowerment of women through art, culture and performance.  The festival includes several evenings of dance, theatre, poetry, music and performance. The festival takes place at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. Ticket prices vary from free to $20.  Participants can take advantage of the Five for $5 special (you and four 'girlfriends' make a group of five and pay only $5 each with a prior reservation.)  BAAD! offers discounts to BAADGE cardholders, BCA cardholders and NALAC members, and free admission to residents of 10474 and 10461 zip codes. DC-7 set for Off-Broadway limited season


The show about the life and legacy of baseball legend and humanitarian Roberto Clemente (first Hispanic inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame) will play at its new home, the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre (304 W. 47th Street), through April 8th. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM, Sundays at 3PM.

After returning from a very successful run of Candela Fuerza y Pasion in Peru, he is now finishing up choreography/musical staging for the new musical about baseball legend Roberto Clemente, DC-7 The Roberto Clemente Story.
