On April 23rd, the New-York Historical Society's latest installment of the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series showcased An American Soldier, a two-act opera composed by Huang Ruo, featuring a libretto by David Henry Hwang, in the Robert H. The New-York Historical Society held their annual History Makers Gala on November 6 at 583 Park in New York. This year's honorees included New-York Historical Trustee Dr. H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang, who received the New-York Historical Society Medal of Merit for Public Engagement; Harry Potter editor Arthur A. Levine, who received the New-York Historical Society Distinguished Service Award; and world-renowned entertainer and celebrated Harry Potter audiobook voice actor Jim Dale, who received the 2018 History Makers Award in recognition of the exhibition Harry Potter: A History of Magic, now on view at New-York Historical.

Following a blockbuster run at the British Library in London, Harry Potter: A History of Magic tickets go on sale today at the New-York Historical Society, which will host the exhibition from October 5, 2018 - January 27, 2019. Excitingly, the exhibition will display many new artifacts for the first time, and beginning today, tickets for trivia programs and a series of family events associated with the exhibition will also be available.

The British Library and the New-York Historical Society have announced that Harry Potter: A History of Magic will open at the New-York Historical Society in October 2018, following its run at the British Library in London from October 20, 2017 - February 28, 2018.

On Monday, November 9, 2015, the New-York Historical Society presented Ron Chernow and Lin-Manuel Miranda with the distinguished 2015 History Makers Award during its annual History Makers Gala at Cipriani Wall Street.  The event featured a conversation with the honorees moderated by Charlie Rose and a special tribute to Richard Gilder, Trustee and Chairman Emeritus of the New-York Historical Society.
