Southwark Playhouse has postponed the upcoming professional world premiere of Philip Ridley's The Beast of Blue Yonder.

Jade Ewen, Mirren Mack, Rachel Bright, and Unique Spencer will star in The Beast of Blue Yonder when it opens at Southwark Playhouse in April. Along with comedian and actor Steve Furst (Little Britain, Stephen Polliakoff's Summer of Rockets, Matilda West End), Charlie Quirke (Birds of a Feather), Lucy Gape (Hollyoaks, Hollyoaks Later), and Tyler Conti (Safe) they will form the backbone of a talented ensemble cast in Philip Ridley's rip roaring dark comedy.

When three parents stumble upon their daughters' pact to lose their virginity at prom, they launch a covert one-night operation to stop the teens from sealing the deal. Leslie Mann (The Other Woman, This Is 40), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) and John Cena (Trainwreck, Sisters) star in Blockers, the directorial debut of Kay Cannon (writer of the Pitch Perfect series).

Meera Syal's much-loved novel bursts onto the stage for the very first time this Autumn. Adapted for the stage by the award-winning playwright, Tanika Gupta, and with specially composed music by Ben and Max Ringham, Anita and Me paints a colourful portrait of village life in 1970's West Midlands during the era of flares, power cuts and glam rock. Directed by Roxana Silbert, the production transfers to Theatre Royal Stratford East from 29 October, after the world premiere at Birmingham REP.

Mandeep Dhillon and Jalleh Alizadeh will take leading roles in the stage premiere of Meera Syal's much-loved novel, Anita And Me which opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 9 October (press night Tuesday 13 October).

Gary Naylor sees a Romeo and Juliet that boldly goes into territory often left dormant by more orthodox directorial decisions.

Executive Producer Jerry Gunn today announces full casting for the company's production of Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. Sally Cookson returns to theatre to direct Sharon D Clarke (Nurse), Matt Costain (Paris/Prince), Chris Bianchi (Friar Lawrence/ Montague), Audrey Brisson (Juliet), Joseph Drake (Romeo), Laura Elphinstone (Mercutio), Felix Hayes (Tybalt) and Javier Marzan (Peter). The production opens on 4 March, with previews from 28 February, and runs until 14 March.

Trevor Nunn's production of James Goldman's THE LION IN WINTER has scheduled an additional matinee performance for Tuesday, January 24 at 2:30pm. The show will complete its run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on January 28 as previously announced.
