Classic American Tales (CAT) presents TALES AT THE DORMER HOUSE.  This new company has taken on what had been presented by East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) for 33 years under the name 'Tales of the Victorians.'

The event, part of the Canadian Arab Orchestra's “Festival of Arabic Music & Arts” will feature the Sultans of String (Chris McKhool - violin, Kevin Laliberté - guitar, Drew Birston - bass), as well as guests from their album. Artists include singer Leen Hamo, and clarinet player Majd Sekkar, both of whom came to Canada as refugees from Syria.  

Veteran trumpeter/composer John Bailey brings an all-star sextet to the stage at the Rochester Jazz Festival on Thursday, June 23. 

From November 8 to 12, one fellow per day will be featured on the Academy’s YouTube channel, in content including conversations with filmmakers Destin Daniel Cretton, Phil Lord, Our Lady J, Rawson Marshall Thurber and Olivia Wilde. Watch a preview of the conversations now!

The Academy announced today that its Board of Governors voted (Saturday, June 1) to present Honorary Awards to David Lynch, Wes Studi and Lina Wertmüller, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Geena Davis.  The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy's 11th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, October 27, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.

Steven Poster, ASC, National President of the International Cinematographers Guild, (ICG, IATSE Local 600) has added his voice to the growing industry concern over the Academy's decision to shorten four awards from the live Oscar broadcast, including the cinematography award.

The Academy confirmed today that Oscars in four categories will be presented during commercial breaks in an attempt to keep the ceremony to three hours, Deadline reports.

Claiming the coveted Theatrical Award for best cinematography in a motion picture, Łukasz Żal, PSC took home the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Award for his work on “Cold War.” Giorgi Shvelidze took the Spotlight Award for “Namme.” In the TV categories, winners included Adriano Goldman, ASC, ABC, BSC for “The Crown”; Jon Joffin, ASC for “Beyond”; and James Friend, BSC for “Patrick Melrose.” The 33 rd ASC Awards gala took place tonight in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, with Ben Mankiewicz from TCM taking his second turn as host.

The first round of Oscars 2019 presenters was announced this morning by Oscars 2019 producer Donna Gigliotti and co-producer and director Glenn Weiss. To help honor the incredible slate of Oscars 2019 nominees​​​​​​​—from blockbusters to independent films—and embrace the diversity of the global movie-going audience, 13 stars were added to the list of presenters. Awkwafina, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Tina Fey, Whoopi Goldberg, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Amandla Stenberg, Charlize Theron, Tessa Thompson, and Constance Wu will be taking the Oscar stage as presenters LIVE SUNDAY FEBRUARY 24 8e|5p on ABC. In addition, it was announced that Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic will perform during the Oscars 2019 'In Memoriam' segment.

Oscar-winning producer Donna Gigliotti will produce the 91 st Oscars, and Emmy ® -winning director Glenn Weiss will co-produce and direct the show, Academy President John Bailey announced today. The Oscars will air live on The ABC Television Network and broadcast outlets worldwide on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.
