Berkshire Playwrights Lab and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts  Center will co-present a YouTube screening of James Anthony Tyler's Some Old Black Man, starring Wendell Pierce and Charlie Robinson

Acclaimed actor Wendell Pierce is pushing forward a new way of imagining live theater in a lingering pandemic, which has shuttered in-person arts experiences throughout the country. 

Wendell Pierce (Olivier nominee for Best Actor for Death of a Salesman) will make his University Musical Society (UMS) debut with a Digital Artist Residency that will feature a filmed, fully-staged production of James Anthony Tyler's 2015 play, Some Old Black Man. The two-person play also features veteran actor Charlie Robinson.

With theaters dark nationwide, Berkshire Playwrights Lab moved to the digital realm through two partnerships: Off the Cuff with The Berkshire Museum and Keeping Live Theater Alive with the Theater5Alliance.

The second and third installments in Berkshire Playwrights Lab's Off the Cuff series will take place Wednesdays, August 19 and August 26 at 6:00 pm. The August 19 event is a replacement for the discussion originally scheduled for August 5 which was impacted by Tropical Storm Isaias

Berkshire Playwrights Lab (BPL) will celebrate the kickoff of the summer season with a benefit Gala on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the historic Wyantenuck Country Club, located at 46 West Sheffield Road in Great Barrington. The evening, a celebration of eleven years of original plays, expanded programming and affordable professional theater, includes light dinner fare, a silent auction, and a short surprise performance. Berkshire Theatre Group is pleased to announce the full schedule of events for the Made in the Berkshires Festival, which will be held on November 11 through November 13, at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA and The Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, MA, celebrating the sixth year of this wonderful festival featuring local art and artists.

The 6th annual festival features cutting-edge theatrical works performed as staged readings, live music, film, short stories and dance in a festival atmosphere like no other. Featured as performance blocks, Made in the Berkshires will allow audiences to enjoy the breadth and depth of the artistic talent that has landed in Berkshire County while celebrating the best in the visual and performing arts. Professional artists and artists-in-the-making gather to share their talent with the Berkshire community. The festival will once again be curated by Hilary Somers Deely and Barbara Sims; two local artists who have helped create the rich cultural tapestry that permeates the area.
