Jacqueline Ann Burke
BIO
Jacqueline developed her love for theatre as a child and has been in and around theatres since she was eight years old. Beginning as a performer, Jacqueline fell in love with musical theatre (thank you, Mr. Smith). Later, she morphed into a stage manager and, in such guise, worked for ten years professionally in and around Toronto. A late bloomer, Jacqueline emerged as a director after about thirty years walking the earth and has been directing ever since (with some time off to travel and start a family). And three years ago, Jacqueline starting teaching and coaching with her innovative Shakespeare is Boffo! and Kidplay workshops and productions.
Recently, Jacqueline directed Guys and Dolls for Scarborough Music Theatre, Butterflies are Free for Encore Entertainment, and Who's Under Where? for Scaroborough Theatre Guild.
Jacqueline is currently directing shows at the Community Level in Toronto. In what she is calling her Ms. Foster season, Jacqui will be directing Affections of May and Wrong for Each Other both opening in 2012. She will also be staging a dramatic read of Sara's Cave by Don Molnar, leading Shakespeare is Boffo! workshops, and guiding kids along with her Kidsplay series.
As always, Jacqui would like to thank John Day, her husband, for his ongoing support and Brenda Day, her daughter, for her ongoing inspiration.
