The Yiddishkayt Initiative (YI) (Avi Hoffman, Producing Artistic Director) and Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Artistic Director) have announced the full lineup of events for the inaugural YI Love New York YiddishFest. This selection of performances, screenings, and discussions centered around Jewish culture and Yiddish entertainment will play several New York City venues from December 21-29. 'The Pianos I Have Known: The Autobiography Of Irving Fields' was released this past week. Collaboratively written between 94 year old Irving Fields and Huffington Post sports and music columnist Tony Sachs and edited/released by music critic Aaron Joy through his indie book publishing and music label Roman Midnight Music.

Clarinetist David Krakauer along with musical pioneer cellist Matt Haimovitz, will present Akoka: The End of Time featuring beat architect Socalled, with violinist Maria Bachmann and pianist Geoffrey Burleson, at 9pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street, NYC).

Celebrated pianist, songwriter, arranger, producer, Crescent City's own Allen Toussaint will be the headliner for Lincoln Center Out of Doors' 'Roots of American Music' concert in Damrosch Park on Saturday, August 22.

Closing Weekend of Lincoln Center Out of Doors (August 22 and 23) is the 26th annual Roots of American Music mini-festival, this year, including a salute to the late singer/songwriter/ activist Odetta.

Acclaimed singer, songwriter and bassist Meshell Ndegeocello will co-headline Lincoln Center Out of Doors' concert in Damrosch Park on August 7, sharing a bill with Raul Midón. She replaces Rokia Traoré (previously announced) whose scheduled U.S. tour has been postponed. Ndegeocello blends jazz, funk, rock, rap and soul as she continues to develop the 'neo-soul' genre she is credited with sparking.

Friends, family and fans will be celebrating the 95th birthday of Irving Fields, the Nation's Oldest Latin and Jazz Pianist on Tuesday August, 4, 2009 at 6pm at Nino's Tuscany Restaurant on 117 West 58th Street. Between 6th and 7th Avenue.
