The Lammermuir Festival returns this September with a varied and bold programme of beautiful music in beautiful places. The festival runs from the 7 – 18 September, featuring 36 performances at 12 venues across the historic county of East Lothian, offering audiences the chance to explore and marvel at the splendour of Scotland's 'sunshine coast'.

The festival runs until 19 September, featuring 35 live performances at 17 venues across East Lothian, allowing audiences to truly explore and appreciate the beauty of this stunning corner of Scotland well within reach of Edinburgh, the Borders, Northumberland and Newcastle.

Today, the Lammermuir Festival announced its first Winter season of online concerts which are now available to book online.

The festival opens with four wonderful song recitals presented in partnership with BBC Radio 3 featuring Robert Murray and Alisdair Hogarth, James Atkinson and Sholto Kynoch, Catriona Morison and Malcolm Martineau, and Mary Bevan and Joseph Middleton.  Over the course of these two weeks some of the best classical musicians gather to bring audiences a very special re-immersion in the power of live music.

One of the nation's most adventurous opera companies, Odyssey Opera, begins its seventh season with a concert performance of Henry VIII (1883) by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns based on El cisma en Inglaterra (The schism in England) by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. This kick-starts the company's 2019-20 season featuring concert and staged operas about the great English dynasty of the 16th century: the Tudors. With libretto by Léonce Détroyat and Armand Silvestre, Henry VIII brings to life one of history's most infamous love triangles featuring baritone Michael Chioldi as King Henry, soprano Ellie Dehn as Henry's first wife, Catherine of Aragon, and mezzo-soprano Hilary Ginther as Henry's second wife, Anne Boleyn.

Martin's adaptation of the medieval legend of Tristan and Isolde chronicles the relationship of the two lovers who meet by deception, fall in love by magic and pursue their love in defiance of heavenly and earthly powers.
