BIO
Coleman began his professional stage career in 2012 as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. That same year, he appeared in As You Like It, We Are Proud To Present..., and later in Choir Boy (2013), a role he reprised in a 2014 Geffen Playhouse production. He also appeared in One Night... (2013) and Buzzer (2015).
In 2017, Coleman starred as Hamlet in Hamlet, later reprising the role in a 2021 radio adaptation. In 2018, he played Ferdinand in The Tempest, and in 2019 appeared as Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. He also portrayed Martin Luther King Jr. in The Great Society (2019) and Macduff in Macbeth (2022).
Coleman’s television work began with The Americans (2013), followed by appearances in The Night Shift (2015), Murder in the First (2015), NCIS (2015), and 11.22.63 (2016). He continued with guest roles in Doubt, NCIS: Los Angeles, and The Carmichael Show (2017).
In film, Coleman appeared in Seberg (2019), Black Bear (2020), Red Bird Lane (2021), Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (2022), and Rustin (2023). He later expanded into major television roles in Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2023) and Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023), and was cast in the lead role in The Emperor of Ocean Park (2024).
