Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has announced the company’s exciting 2023-2024 season lineup, featuring three full-length story ballets and two mixed repertory programs.

On Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 7:30pm, Opera Lafayette will present Pergolesi!, part of their 2022/23 season dedicated to The Era of Madame de Pompadour.

Led by Artistic and Executive Director Kent Jue, Magnificent Wonders will perform 1pm PST Saturday, December 3 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Palo Alto and 4pm PST Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Old First Church in San Francisco.

The soprano Vasiliki Constantinou, the mezzo soprano Anoki von Arx, and the pianist Zara Bakhoudarian are to present a concert dedicated to the Stabat Mater sequence, a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary. The piece, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion, will now take place at Technopolis 20, on Wednesday, April 27, at 7pm. The title comes from its first line, Stabat Mater dolorosa, which means 'the sorrowful mother was standing' and has been set to music by many Western composers, including Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, whose work is going to be presented. 

We are entering the Holy Week of Easter with a concert dedicated to the Stabat Mater sequence, a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion.

The production is conducted by Luis Otavio Santos, who commands the Orquestra do Theatro Sao Pedro, and stage direction by Mauro Wrona. The show will also be streamed free of charge on the internet.

For the first time since 2010, Chatham Baroque will present Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's (1710-1736) immortal setting of the Stabat Mater – a Lenten hymn to Mary, mother of Jesus – along with music by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) and Johann Heinrich Schmelzer (1623-1680).
