Fred Tessler BIO

Fred Tessler serves as Lead Mentor for Theatre at Colorado Springs Conservatory. Fred has been working at the Conservatory since 2015. Fred holds degrees in French and Theatre from Macalester College. Fred served as Associate Artistic Director and Resident Music Director for over 50 productions for Hope Summer Repertory Theatre in Holland, MI. His favorite shows include Dames at Sea, Working, The Hot Mikado, and Les Miserables. A 20-year resident of New York City, Fred was on the faculty of Wagner College where he was Director and/or Music Director of over a dozen shows, including Brigadoon, Tick, Tick…Boom, and Master Class. Fred was also Music Director for productions at Brooklyn College and Columbia University and was on the staff of the Cap 21 Conservatory at NYU. Music directing credits in New York included the Off-Broadway production of Five Course Love, three seasons with the ENCORES! series at City Center, and productions with The Roundabout Theatre Company and Manhattan Class Company. Regional credits include productions with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, The Minneapolis Children’s Theatre, The Berkeley Repertory Theatre and The Berkshire Theatre Festival. Fred has been an Artist in Residence at The Stratford Festival of Canada.

Benefit Show at Don't Tell Mama Aids Award-Winning Cabaret Singer Amy Beth Williams Tonight


Last September, after appearing at the popular Manhattan open mic cabaret show, Salon, Bistro and MAC Award-winning singer Amy Beth Williams was struck by a car near her home in Brooklyn. Now an all-star roster of Williams' fellow cabaret performers and friends will stage a benefit show, Once In Love With Amy, at Don't Tell Mama tonight, January 21 at 7 pm, to help replace the funds Williams has lost during her extensive recovery.

FIVE COURSE LOVE Original Cast Records Album


The original off-Broadway cast of the musical FIVE COURSE LOVE (Minetta Lane Theatre, 2005) went into the studios on January 9th and 10th in New York City to record the show's cast album. FIVE COURSE LOVE, with book, music and lyrics by Gregg Coffin, tells the story of five entangled encounters with love in five different restaurants. The scores varied musical styles reflect the cuisines of the different eateries: Country & Western, Italian, German cabaret, Mexican and 50's Doo Wop.
