Evan Cabnet BIO

Evan Cabnet is a highly respected director in both the theater and television industries. Born in New York City, Cabnet grew up surrounded by the arts and attended Brown University, where he studied theater and political science. After graduation, he began his career as an assistant director on Broadway, working on productions such as The Coast of Utopia and The Wedding Singer.
Cabnet made his Broadway directorial debut in 2012 with the play The Performers, which starred Henry Winkler and Cheyenne Jackson. While the play received mixed reviews, Cabnet's direction was praised for its energy and pacing. He went on to direct the Broadway revival of The Velocity of Autumn in 2014, which starred Estelle Parsons and Stephen Spinella. The play received positive reviews, with Cabnet's direction being singled out for its sensitivity and nuance.
In addition to his work on Broadway, Cabnet has directed numerous off-Broadway productions, including the critically acclaimed plays Gloria and A Kid Like Jake. He has also worked extensively in regional theaters across the country, including the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Old Globe Theatre.
Cabnet's work in television includes directing episodes of popular shows such as The Blacklist, Narcos, and Gotham. He has also directed several television movies, including the award-winning drama The Red Tent, which starred Rebecca Ferguson and Minnie Driver.
In recent years, Cabnet has focused primarily on his work in the theater. He directed the off-Broadway play Dan Cody's Yacht in 2018, which starred Kristen Bush and Rick Holmes. The play received strong reviews, with Cabnet's direction being praised for its humor and emotional depth.
Cabnet's most recent work was the off-Broadway production of the play Describe the Night, which premiered in 2017. The play, written by Rajiv Joseph, explores the history of Russia over the course of 90 years. Cabnet's direction was widely praised, with critics calling it "brilliant" and "masterful." The play received several award nominations, including the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Play.
