Lookingglass Theatre Company, recipient of the 2011 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced plans to pause its programming through the spring of 2024 and a sizeable reduction to its full-time staff, slashing the number of employees from 24 to 10. 

Playhouse on the Square, in partnership with Friends of Facing History and Ourselves, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Community Trust, Playhouse on the Square Season Sponsor Dorothy O. Kirsch, and Super Sponsor Dr. Thomas Ratliff, present one of Kander and Ebb's final collaborations THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, running January 20 – February 19, 2023.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults’ will bring its world premiere adaptation of 1919 to audience across Chicago this fall for a series of FREE performances through the Chicago Park District’s “Night Out In The Parks” initiative.

Lookingglass Theatre Company commemorates the start of the 1919 Chicago race riots, incited by the tragic murder of Eugene Williams, a Black teenager stoned to death after drifting into a “whites only” section of Lake Michigan.

The Scottsboro Boys opened on Broadway 10 years ago today, on October 31, 2010.  Director Susan Stroman, David Thompson (writer) and the Original Broadway Cast reunited to talk about the experience, and perform one of the signature songs from the show 'Commencing In Chattanooga.'
