Plaza Suite, the revival of the beloved Neil Simon play, has set a new box office record of $1,708,386.60 at Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street) for the week ending Sunday, June 12. This is the fourth time Plaza Suite has set the weekly record at the Hudson, the previous record was $1,684,195.50 set the week ending Sunday, April 24.

Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica stopped by CBS Sunday Morning today to talk about their upcoming appearances in the Broadway revival of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite at The Hudson Theatre.

When we last met Eugene Jerome, he was coping with adolescence in 1930's Brooklyn. Here, he is a young army recruit during WW II, going through basic training and learning about Life and Love with a capital 'L' along with some harsher lessons, while stationed at boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943.

Full casting has been announced for Citadel Theatre's production of Neil Simon's BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, set to open on Saturday, September 18 following previews on Wednesday, September 15 and Thursday, September 16.

Auditions for the fall production of Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon will take place at the JCC on the Cohn Campus in the J Stage Theatre on Sunday, September 12 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Callback auditions are scheduled for Monday, September 13 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. J Stage Theatre is located at 13009 Community Campus Drive in Tampa.

Today, the TodayTix digital lottery policy for Plaza Suite was announced ahead of the production's first preview on Friday, March 13. The official opening night is Monday, April 13, at Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street). Plaza Suite has partnered with TodayTix to offer a limited number of $39 tickets via an exclusive digital Lottery for every performance. The lottery will open for entries at midnight each performance day, and close four hours prior to the selected performance time. If selected, winners will have 45 minutes to claim and pay for their tickets through TodayTix. Tickets may be picked up at Hudson Theatre's box office. Single tickets are also available for purchase on the TodayTix app or website.

As previously announced, Plaza Suite will play a strictly limited 17-week Broadway engagement at Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street), with previews beginning March 13, 2020 and an official opening night set for April 13, 2020. Plaza Suite will mark the first time Broderick and Parker will share a Broadway stage since the 1995 revival of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. This event will also mark Broderick's return to the words of Neil Simon, having won his first Tony Award for creating the role of Eugene Jerome in Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs, followed by its sequel, Biloxi Blues.

Neil Simon's indecision about genre in Brighton Beach Memoirs was related to his problem being direct about his parents. A true account would necessarily have revealed their fighting, his father's desertions and infidelities, and the eventual failure of their marriage, and could only have been presented as a tragedy or melodrama. A comedy (and Brighton Beach is formally a comedy) would need to present a sanitized version of what Simon remembered; it would satisfy his audience (which expected comedies) and his parents, but it would also come further from the flavor Simon wanted to present. What we get in consequence is a play in three somewhat inconsistent genres.
