James Conlon To Be Honored at the Colburn School Gala
Conductor James Conlon will be honored at the Colburn School’s annual gala, Celebrate Colburn, on April 7, 2024. Conlon will receive the Richard D. Colburn Award for his exemplary contributions to the world of classical music and the arts, including his work as Artistic Director of the Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices at Colburn.
James Conlon Presents The Music Of William Grant Still And Alexander Zemlinsky, February-March 2024
This February and March, James Conlon directs and curates a series of performances and events across Los Angeles highlighting the music of William Grant Still and Alexander Zemlinsky around the momentous return of Conlon’s Recovered Voices initiative at LA Opera featuring the Los Angeles premiere of Still’s Highway 1, USA and the revival of Zemlinsky’s The Dwarf (Der Zwerg) from February 24 to March 17.

This Spotlight focuses on Amanda Conlon, the actor, singer and director who created Bucket List Theatre after relocating to Los Angeles from NYC. As the company's Artistic Director, her talents as an actor, singer, writer and director enhance every production in which she appears or organizes for her company of equally talented, triple-threat performers. Amanda recently joined Theatre 40 and has also appeared in and directed productions for that professional company on the campus of Beverly Hills High School.

'A Tale Of Two Emigrés With James Conlon' Features Members Of LA Opera Orch From Pittance Chamber Music
Pittance Chamber Music, known for featuring the extraordinary resident artists of the Los Angeles Opera pit and stage, presents A Tale of Two Emigres with James Conlon. LA Opera Music Director James Conlon curates and conducts a unique program that tells the tale of Jewish emigre composers Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Arnold Schoenberg, who left their homelands and ultimately settled in Los Angeles as a result of the Nazis' rise to power. The program will include a talk by Maestro Conlon, who will also conduct works by Korngold and Schoenberg performed by a large ensemble from the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. The concert takes place at Zipper Hall, Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
