Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Coffey is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and currently makes his home in Hell's Kitchen, NYC.
Television appearances include recurring on the upcoming "The God of the Woods", and recently "The Madness" (w/ Colman Domingo), and guest-starring roles on "American Horror Story: NYC", "And Just Like That...", "Mrs. Fletcher", "Chicago Fire", "Instinct", "The Good Wife", "Law & Order", "Law & Order: SVU", and "Law & Order: CI" (also recurring), among many others.
In addition to dozens of indie features and award-winning shorts, his major feature film appearances include War Game, The Good Nurse, Trust, The International, and Thirteen Days. His work in Trust was singled out by Roger Ebert in his "Best Films" list and his performance was praised at the Toronto Film Festival as a "tour-de-force performance, giving a shockingly convincing performance that is equally perverse and plausible".
Coffey has originated stage roles On & Off-Broadway (and Regionally) in numerous world premieres. He made his Broadway debut in the play Bronx Bombers by Eric Simonson (as Joe DiMaggio) at the Circle in the Square, after originating the role with Primary Stages at the Duke on 42nd. Other selected highlights include Bekah Brunstetter's Public Servant on Theatre Row (NYC), Gina Gionfriddo's Can You Forgive Her? (Huntington Theater, Boston), Richard Nelson's Frank's Home, directed by Robert Falls (Playwrights Horizons, NYC, Goodman Theater, Chicago), Richard Nelson's How Shakespeare Won the West (Huntington Theater) and working alongside Arthur Miller in his penultimate play, Resurrection Blues (Old Globe Theater, San Diego). Additional favorites include Days to Come by Lillian Hellman (Mint, NYC), Lips Together, Teeth Apart (Westport Playhouse), The Front Page, (Long Wharf), Violet Hour and Hedda Gabler (Dallas Theater Center), P.R. Man (Ohio Theatre, NYC), A View from the Bridge and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Alley Theater), Galileo and Measure For Measure (Yale Rep).
His social & community outreach includes acting and facilitating both nationally and internationally with Theater of War, (Bryan Doerries, founder); Waterwell (The Courtroom, Ford/Hill - Arian Moayed, founder); AITAF (Arts in the Armed Forces - Adam Driver, founder).
He is a proud member of the Actors Center, NYC as well as an Adjunct Professor at Pace University, NYC teaching Advanced TV/Film Acting to BFA Majors.
