BIO

CAMERON KING (she/her) is a theatre director who works with a strong base in unguarded collaboration, through the philosophy that a happy audience starts with a healthy team. Born and raised in New York City, Cameron began a Junior International Theatre Society branch at her all-girls middle school before being accepted into LaGuardia High School’s celebrated Drama Department. It was there that Cameron began to develop her directorial skills assisting on their annual musicals, operas, and galas. She was one of three students accepted into the BFA Directing program at the University of Michigan where she worked on seven productions with three theatre companies in her year there. She then transferred into the Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama where she wrote, produced and directed both at the university and with her own theatre companies: Group 404 and Shadyside Shakespeare. Cameron spent a summer in St. Louis as the Directing Intern for The Muny, and a semester in London studying at LAMDA while observing the development of The Prince of Egypt musical. In 2021, Cameron graduated with a BFA in Directing and a position at Bay Street Theater as their Resident Assistant Director. While working there, she directed The Devil is in the Details: A Tribute to Tony Walton and assisted on all productions of their summer season. She then returned to New York to Assistant Direct Becoming Dr. Ruth at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. In her first year out of school, she worked on multiple workshops, operas, readings, and musicals, including Barry Manilow's Harmony at the National Yiddish Theater. She returned to Bay Street in 2022 as the Associate Director to Jason Alexander with Scooter Piesch's new comedy, Windfall. In August of 2022, Cameron directed Lizzie: The Rock Musical, produced by Southern Plains Productions at Tower Theater in Oklahoma City, OK. She then returned to Sag Harbor, NY to open Indian Summer on Bay Street's main stage. She now lives with her dog on the Lower East Side, developing various projects, running a play reading group, and operating as Patron Services Manager for the NATIONAL YIDDISH THEATRE.
