Sports. The word with various meanings, but always seems to perpetuate a game, a sparring of two teams or two people. This battle is well done on-stage with Rec Room Arts, King James. Rajiv Joseph’s expert play book ends the friendship of two male Cavaliers fans at the start of Lebron James career with the Cleveland team, and ends with the Cavalier winning the NBA finals in 2016. The ups and downs of the pair of friends, Matt (Blake Weir) and Shawn (Antonio Lasanta), guides the stage as a reflection of how basketball brings people together, and also how it can separate them.

Classical Theatre Company has brought R.U.R. to Houston. It quickly became apparent that there were no clear rules on what could happen next. A transition could cover ten years or a few seconds. A character's attitude on death could be funny or horrifying. As the play went on it became clear that this performance would stick in my head for a while.

Main Street Theater (MST) has extended the run of Alan Ayckbourn's brilliant comedy, Relatively Speaking, through June 2.  Added performances are June 1 at 7:30pm and June 2 at 3:00pm.
