Good news! The first teaser trailer and poster for part one of the Wicked movie has been released. Go backstage at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre as members of the show's current company take in their first look of the hotly anticipated film adaptation. 

The Wicked movie musical has officially wrapped production. After Ariana Grande revealed that she wrapped filming earlier this week, Cynthia Erivo has shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her flying on a broomstick as Elphaba as she wraps. Other cast members – including Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang – wrapped filming earlier this month.

Stephen Schwartz has revealed that the second Wicked movie will include two new songs. The Tony-winning composer revealed that the second part of the film, slated for release in November 2025, will include two original songs not heard in the stage musical. He also revealed that 'there are some expansions of stuff in the first movie.'

While other actors in the film, including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, were unable to film the Wicked movie during the SAG-AFTRA strike, Jonathan Bailey's Equity contract allowed him to continue filming the movie as Fiyero with body doubles standing in place for other characters.

Ariana Grande has revealed a new tattoo inspired by a song from Wicked in her latest Instagram post. The new photo comes after Grande also revealed that she had gotten the original illustration of Glinda from L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz books inked on the back of her hand. Director Jon M. Chu has confirmed that while the Wicked movie has paused production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, their respective release dates should not be affected. According to a new casting notice, the upcoming Wicked movie is authentically-casting a wheelchair user as Young Nessarose, a new character for the film. Marissa Bode will be playing Nessarose in the upcoming two-part film adaptation, also starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
