Posted: 2/7/13 at 11:42pmSo I've decided I absolutely have to see once with Steve and Cristin in it and I'm willing to go ahead and splurge on it.....but is there any way to make sure that I actually get to see Steve and Cristin in it? I would be devastated if I went and dropped that kind of money and they were off that night. Does anyone know? Or are there certain shows that actors are more likely to take off/ shows that you have the best chance of seeing the principal actor instead of the understudy? Thanks!

Actors are (usually) expected to perform all 8 shows. Like any regular job, they have a certain number of sick days, personal days and of course, they can get permission to take additional time away from the show, without pay. There are some roles in some shows that contractually the actors only perform 6 times with an official ALTERNATE. This is not the case with Once.
Other than that, they are there without any pattern.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

i was there wednesday and steve and cristin were both out. i walked by last night and steve was still out. i've seen steve, but never cristin, in the show. cristin's understudy has one of the best voices i have ever heard. she was fantastic. and steve's understudy was great too.
i believe cristin is leaving end of march.

cristin's understudy Laura Dreyfuss has one of the best voices i have ever heard. she was fantastic.
YES!! i love Cristin too but Lauras voice is angelic!

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
