Victoria Clark in Concert at Lincoln Center Nov. 26
Tony Award-winning actress Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) celebrates the release of her debut solo album, "Fifteen Seconds of Grace," with an exclusive one-night-only concert at the Kaplan Penthouse in the Samuel B. and David Rose Building, Lincoln Center, (located at 165 West 65th Street) on Monday, November 26 at 7PM & 9:30PM. Her album was released on November 6 by PS Classics, the record label devoted to theater music and American popular songs.
Clark will perform selections from "Fifteen Seconds of Grace," lending her remarkable voice to gems from the American songbook, as well as songs from contemporary composers. She will be accompanied by an 11-piece orchestra led by Ted Sperling, the Tony Award-winning orchestrator of The Light in the Piazza and musical director of her highly-anticipated solo recording.
Clark's repertoire for "Fifteen Seconds of Grace" is wonderfully eclectic and deeply personal, ranging from heartfelt reinterpretations of celebrated theater songs like Irving Berlin's "I Got Lost in His Arms" from Annie Get Your Gun and Jerry Herman's "Before the Parade Passes By" from Hello, Dolly!, to beloved standards like Harold Arlen's "Right as the Rain." Other selections include "It Might Be You," from the film Tootsie, the gospel standard "How Can I Keep From Singing?" and new songs from the American musical theater's brightest young talents, like Adam Guettel's "Life Is But a Dream," Jeff Blumenkrantz's "Departure," Ricky Ian Gordon's "The Red Dress," and Jessica Molaskey and John Pizzarelli's whimsically poignant "Someone to Cook For." Clark will also perform the album's title song, as well as "Thomas," a musical love letter to her son.
Victoria Clark received a 2005 Tony Award for her performance in The Light in the Piazza and most recently dazzled audiences in the acclaimed City Center Encores! production of Follies. Her other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Urinetown, Titanic, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Guys and Dolls, and A Grand Night for Singing. Among Clark's screen credits are Cradle Will Rock, "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU," and Sweeney Todd in Concert on PBS. As a director, she helmed the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics & Lyricists" series Serenade in Blue: The Mack Gordon Song Cavalcade. She will be seen in M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, which is due in movie theatres in June 2008.
Tickets for "Fifteen Seconds of Grace"are $50, with a limited number of Premium Seats, priced at $90, available for the 9:30PM show. Premium seating guarantees the best seats in the house, an autographed copy of Clark's CD, and attendance at a private champagne reception with Clark following the performance.
