According to the NY Times, film producer Paula Wagner and Roy Furman are currently working on a revival of THE HEIRESS. Producers told the NYT that they are looking to bring the revival of the 1947 play to Broadway in Fall 2012, and that Moises Kaufman is on board to direct.

Rumors are currently circulating that 'Mad Men' star Elizabeth Moss might lead the production as Catherine- if she is not already committed to star in a possible Broadway revival of THE CHILDREN'S HOUR.

Wendy Hiller originated the role of Catherine on Broadway; in the West End, Peggy Ashcroft portrayed the title character. The play was revived on Broadway in 1995, starring Cherry Jones as Catherine and featuring Philip Bosco, Patricia Conolly, Frances Sternhagen, and Jon Tenney.

In THE HEIRESS, Catherine Sloper is a plain, painfully shy woman whose emotionally detached father makes no secret of his disappointment in her. When she meets the charming Morris Townsend , she immediately is taken by the attention that he lavishes upon her, attention she so desperately seeks from her father.
