In addition to starring a young Kevin Bacon as Ren, the original Footloose also starred Lori Singer as Ariel. It was originally written by Dean Pitchford and directed by Herbert Ross. A Broadway musical version of Footloose was previously staged in 1998.

The new film Footloose is said to be expanded into a "full-blown movie musical" from the earlier film. Stepping into those iconic roles are Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. The film is being produced by the highly successful team of Craig Zadan (a producer of the original "Footloose" in 1984) and Neil Meron. In addition to Hough and Wormald, the film also features Dennis Quaid as Rev. Shaw Moore, Ziah Colon as Rusty, Andie MacDowell as Vi, Miles Teller as Willard, and Ray McKinnon as Wes Warnicker.

Just as iconic as the original roles is the title song, which was covered by country singer and "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton for the movie's October 14 release. Listen to the song below!
