Photo Flash: Pittsburgh CLO's INTO THE WOODS With Bahorek, Carrasco, Cody & More Begins Rehearsals

By:

Find out what happens after "happily ever after" when Pittsburgh CLO presents Into the Woods. Once Upon a Time, a Baker and his wife embarked on a quest to break a witch's spell. On their journey "into the woods" they cross paths with Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella and a host of other hysterically flawed fairy tale characters.

This cast of familiar fairytale faces must confront the fact that their happily ever after may not be so. Experience this fabulously fractured fable August 4 through August 9 at the Benedum Center in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Stephen Sondheim's award-winning score casts a magical spell with such gems as "Children Will Listen," "Giants in The Sky" and "No One Is Alone."

Stanley Bahorek stars as Jack, Greggory Brandt as Rapunzel's Prince, Stephen Carrasco as Steward, Jennifer Cody as Red Riding Hood, Kaitlyn Davidson as Rapunzel, Kevin Earley as the Wolf and Cinderella's Prince, Sara Jean Ford as Cinderella, Hunter Foster as the Baker, Steffi Garrard as Florinda, Tracy Groth as Snow White and the cow, Tim Hartman as the narrator/mysterious man, Betsy Lawrence as Jack's mother, Beth Leavel as the witch, Stephanie Maloney as Lucinda, Brynn O'Malley as the Baker's wife, Paul Palmer as Cinderella's father, Elise Santora as Granny/giant's voice/Cinderella's mother, Lauren Sprague as Cinderella's stepmother, and Kathryn Lin Terza as Sleeping Beauty/cow.

James Brennan serves as director and choreographer, while Tom Helm music directs. Into the Woods features a book by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Once a groundbreaking new work, Into the Woods has become a theater staple, even for high schools. The International Thespian Society, with about 3,800 affiliated high schools, has conducted a survey of the most popular plays and musicals every year since 1937. About 830 schools participated in this year's survey. Of the top ten musicals produced, Into the Woods tied with Bye Bye Birdie for 6th place behind overall leader Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Tickets for Into the Woods start at $24.50 and are available online at pittsburghCLO.org, by calling 412-456-6666 or at the Box Office at Theater Square. Groups of 10 or more may call 412-325-1582.
