DKMS, the fastest growing bone marrow donor center in the U.S., has registered close to 2,500 people who were inspired by 11-year-old Shannon Tavarez's story. The 11-year-old star of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway is still fighting leukemia and has yet to find a match. On Friday Corbin Bleu, the current star of Tony Award Winning Musical, In the Heights and Tony Award winner, Trent Kowalik were on hand volunteering with DKMS. They also got swabbed in the hopes of becoming a match for Shannon or someone like her.
Earlier this month Shannon story made headlines when Rihanna & Alicia Keys (Shannon's idols) heard about the young girl's plight and urged their fans to register with DKMS at www.GetSwabbed.org
