Photo Coverage: Farewell Party for 'Beauty' Star Young

Jacob Young ("JR Chandler" on ABC's "All My Children") played his final performance as 'Lumiere' in Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Sunday, August 20th at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street), and a farewell celebration was held at Coppola's East. On Tuesday, August 22nd, Stuart Marland (Jekyll & Hyde, Cyrano The Musical) began performances as the Gallic candelabra.

Young began performances in the role on May 9th. The Emmy Award-winning actor made his Broadway debut in the show. After a highly successful run, his originally scheduled limited 10-week engagement was extended through August 20th.

In 2006, Disney's Beauty and the Beast has marked several major milestones. On April 18th, the musical celebrated its 12th anniversary on Broadway. The production played its 5,000th performance on Tuesday, June 20th. Disney's Beauty and the Beast is currently the sixth-longest running musical in Broadway history.

The show, which features a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton, also currently stars Steve Blanchard as the Beast, Sarah Litzsinger as Belle, Grant Norman as Gaston, Jeanne Lehman as Mrs. Potts, Christopher Duva as Cogsworth, Jamie Ross as Maurice, Meredith Inglesby as Babette, Mary Stout as Madame de la Grande Bouche and Aldrin Gonzalez as Lefou. Trevor Braun and Alexander Scheitinger alternate the role of Chip. Beginning September 19th, Donny Osmond will join the cast as Gaston for a limited nine-week engagement
