L.A. Theatre Works Air Twelve Angry Men 9/18

By:

Beginning Saturday, September 18, L.A. Theatre Works Radio Theatre Series will air Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, followed by a special presentation of Tone Clusters by Joyce Carol Oates. The broadcast can be heard locally in Southern California on Saturday from 10 pm to midnight on 89.3 KPCC, and can also be streamed on demand at http://www.latw.org/.

In Twelve Angry Men, eleven jurors are convinced that the defendant in a murder trial is guilty. Yet, despite the heat and overwhelming evidence, one juror refuses to cave in to groupthink; he has no doubt of the young defendant's innocence. How can this one man steer the others toward the same conclusion? Originally written as a script for a live TV presentation in 1954, Reginald Rose expanded his teleplay into the celebrated movie starring Henry Fonda three years later. The L.A. Theatre Works recording stars Jeffrey Donovan, Dan Castellaneta, Hector Elizondo, Robert Foxworth, Richard Kind, James Gleason, Kevin Kilner, Alan Mandell, Rob Nagle, Armin Shimerman, Joe Spano, and Steve Vinovich.

Edward Asner, Joyce Van Patten, and Hector Elizondo star in Tone Clusters, a penetrating dark comedy about a seemingly normal suburban couple who can't face a great tragedy that's destroyed their lives.

L.A. Theatre Works' radio theater series can also be heard on the following stations (check local listings for broadcast times): 89.7 WGBH, Boston; 91.5 WBEZ, Chicago; 94.9 KUOW, Seattle; 90.1 WABE, Atlanta; 94.1 KPFA, Berkeley; 91.1 KRCB, North Bay (San Francisco); and many other stations nationwide.

Major funding for L.A. Theatre Works broadcast series is provided by the S. Mark Taper Foundation. Founded in 1989, the S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives by supporting non-profit organizations and their work in the community.
