Earlier this month, Ghost the Musical announced that it was releasing an additional 350,000 tickets for sale, as the show officially extended bookings in the West End until October 2012. Today it's now official that the show will open on Broadway in April of 2012 at a 'Nederlander Theater to be determined', with previews to begin in March of 2012. There is no specific word yet on casting, dates, etc.

"Ghost is a welcome antidote in our age of cynicism. The story continues to resonate on a very personal level with each person who experiences it, whether laughing or remembering how it feels to truly be in love ," producer Colin Ingram said. "It's such a joy to see this timeless story as a musical that deeply affects both those who cherish it and those who are seeing it for the first time."

"It has been my honor to be a part of the team given the opportunity to create a musical around this powerful love story," composer Dave Stewart said. "Imagining a love strong enough to bridge this world and the afterlife is fertile ground on which to build a big, romantic musical. Imagine a love that strong. We are all very excited to introduce the musical to Broadway. It's been one of the most amazing experiences of my career."

Michael Riedel reported earlier this month that producers have been meeting with New York theater owners and are in early talks about booking a theatre with the Lunt-Fontanne (home to The Addams Family), the Shubert (home to Memphis) and the Palace (home to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) high on their list. None of those currently running shows have made any announcements to their closing. He noted as well that Sharon D. Clarke, who received praise as the show's psychic will likely transfer with the show. It's been long anticipated that Caissie Levy would bring the show to Broadway also, but he reports that other recasting is possible.

Ghost The Musical made its highly anticipated West End debut on July 19, at the Piccadilly Theatre, after beginning performances on June 24, 2011.

Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy lead the cast of Ghost The Musical playing Sam and Molly inMatthew Warchus' stage musical version of the Academy Award® winning film.
