THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON officially opened on Broadway Sunday, March 6, starring Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Noth,Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland. Jason Miller's Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is directed by Gregory Mosher and plays at the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45TH Street). This is a limited engagement through Sunday, May 29th, 2011. Broadway Beat was on hand for the opening celebration!
The design team includes Michael Yeargan (Sets), Jane Greenwood (Costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (Lights) and Scott Lehrer (Sound).

THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON made its debut at The Public Theater in May 1972 before moving to Broadway's Booth Theatre where it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play and the Tony Award for Best Play for the 1973 season. It played a total of 944 performances on and off Broadway.
THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is a powerhouse drama about the promise of youth and the challenge of staying in the game. For over two decades, four players and the coach of a high school championship basketball team have gathered every year to re-live their greatest moment of glory. While three of The Players have found small-town success, the fourth has never found his way. At this year's reunion tensions boil over and as the celebratory evening turns brutal, long-held secrets bubble to the surface and life-long bonds are shattered.
THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON's performance schedule is Tuesday at 7PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8PM. Matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2PM and Sunday at 3PM.
