It's Tonys season! The 2014 Tony Awards will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 8th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. The ceremony is still weeks away, and in the meantime, BroadwayWorld wants you to get to know this year's nominees. Richard Ridge was thrilled to speak with nearly all of them at the official Tonys Meet & Greet on April 30, 2014, and we will be bringing you special coverage on all of them leading up to the big night.
Today we continue our Tonys coverage with Brian J. Smith, a nominee for Best Featured Actor in a Play for The Glass Menagerie, who chats about why the show was a group effort, why he wasn't expecting a nomination, and more. Check out what he had to say below!
Amanda Wingfield (Cherry Jones) is a southern belle past her prime, living with two grown children in a small apartment in St. Louis. Amanda dreams of a better life for her shy and crippled daughter Laura (Celia Keenan-Bolger), and so she pushes her son Tom (Zachary Quinto) to find a "gentleman caller" for the girl. However, the arrival of the gentleman caller (Brian J. Smith) sends shockwaves through the family, and causes cracks to form in the delicate fantasies that have kept them going.
