The Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles last night, September 15, 2012. The broadcast of the awards is set to air next Saturday, September 22, on ReelzChannel, followed the next day by the Primetime Emmy Awards (Sunday, Sept. 23) on ABC.

Amongst the highlights for theatre fans, the 65th Annual Tony Awards picked up three Emmys - for Outstanding Special Class Program, Art Direction and Outstanding Song (It's Not Just for Gays Anymore' - written by Adam Schlesinger & David Javerbaum and performed by Neil Patrick Harris). 

The telecast was also nominated in the category of Outstanding Direction for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special (director: Glenn Weiss) and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special (Dave Boone). Those category will be announced on the Emmy Awards telecast on September 23.

SMASH choreographer Josua Bergasse picked up an award for Outstanding Choreography and the Kennedy Center Honors was named Outstanding Variety Special. 

Also, MEMPHIS won for Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Miniseries, Movie or Special.
