Kiss of the Spider Woman is a Tony Award-winning musical that tells the story of two prisoners, Valentin and Molina, who form an unlikely bond while sharing a jail cell in a Latin American prison. As they navigate their confinement, they find themselves exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and freedom, all while being watched by a mysterious woman who appears to them as both a savior and a predator.
Roxy's Downtown has assembled a top-notch cast and crew to bring this powerful story to life. Shaun-Michael Morse will play the role of Molina, a sensitive and flamboyant gay man who dreams of being a movie star. Zeke Thompson will take on the role of Valentin, a Marxist revolutionary who is tortured for his beliefs. Claire Gerig will play the mysterious Spider Woman, a seductive figure who both entrances and terrifies the two prisoners.
Director Rick Bumgardner has a strong reputation in Wichita's theater community, having directed numerous successful productions at Roxy's Downtown and beyond. He is thrilled to be bringing Kiss of the Spider Woman to audiences in Wichita, saying, "This show is an exploration of the human spirit and the lengths we will go to for love and freedom. I'm excited to work with such a talented cast and crew to bring this story to life on stage."
