Theatre Lawrence presents a light-hearted musical for family members of all ages. Young Jeremy Jacob is recruited by Captain Braid Beard and his mates to help find the perfect spot for their treasure. Jeremy eagerly learns about a pirate's life through songs "Talk Like a Pirate," "Soccer by the Rules," and "Pirates Dot Aaargh." This is a delightful family story of adventure and finding one's own heart.
HOW I BECAME A PIRATE features Jeff Blair as the Captain and Sam Hay as Jeremy Jacob. Pirates include John Phythyon as Shark Tooth, Sue Hires as Morgan, Kasey Fewins as Scurvy Dog, Tony Jones as Silent Jack, Genee Figuieras as Swill, Hailey Gillespie as Pierre, Emily Isabel Herman as One Eye and Kelly Barker as Seymour Braunschwager . The show is under the direction of Charles Goolsby with musical direction by Judy Heller and choreography by Melia Stockham.
The musical is based on the children's books by Caldecott Honor-winning illustrator
David Shannon and writer Melinda Long.
Prizes will be given before each performance to the audience member wearing the best pirate or pirate-related costume. Bring the family, practice your aaarghs and join the fun!
