The Carnegie Arts Center is very pleased to be starting a string ensemble under the direction of Kenton Lanier. Mr. Lanier received his BA in Music Composition and Theory from Thomas Edison State College, and is currently teaching piano, viola, and violin at the Carnegie Arts Center.
This ensemble is intended for violin, viola, cello, and bass players in their second or third year of study and beyond. (Approximate equivalent to Suzuki Level 2 or above.) The ensemble is an opportunity for students to learn to play as a group, and also provides them an opportunity to refine their individual skills. Auditions for the string ensemble will be held at the Carnegie Arts Center on October 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The ensemble will meet on Wednesdays, October 21 through December 16, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. (They will not meet on November 25.) The class will culminate in a performance of traditional Christmas Carols and selected classical works on Saturday, December 19.
