In the great radio tradition of Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Bergen and McCarthy, and other names most people don't remember...Right Between the Ears, the award-winning sketch comedy show, will present a live, nationwide broadcast on Sunday, August 16 at 7:00pm Central.
During its 25-year history, Right Between the Ears has often produced live radio broadcasts, but this will mark the first-ever nationwide broadcast.
According to series producer and principal writer Darrell Brogdon, the August 16 show will reprise material from Don't Hate Us Because We're Funny, a new CD featuring "greatest bits" from live RBTE performances in 2008, as well as new material created especially for the live broadcast. Among the bits planned are episodes of The Angry Watercolorist, Incompetents Hospital and Barbie and Ken At Home, plus "commercials" for Toyota Pious, Snuggie Products and the Shirt Pocket Organizer.
"We're excited," said Brogdon. "It's our first live, nationwide broadcast. If we don't utterly embarrass ourselves, we hope to do more live shows in the future on Sirius and XM. They're certainly interested."
Right Between the Ears is broadcast every Saturday at 7:00pm Central on Laugh USA, Sirius 105 and XM 151; and Sundays at 7:00pm on the stations of Kansas Public Radio (KANU, Lawrence; KANH, Emporia; and KANV, Junction City). The show is a four-time winner of the Gold Medal as Best Comedy Show at the New York Festivals.
