As the summer months in the United States swelter, many start dreaming of the weather in December to try to feel cooler. That is exactly what everyone felt on Sunday, July 22, 2013 in Wichita, Kansas. Ian Patrick Gibb, fresh off his tour of the 25th Anniversary Touring Production of Les Miserables, performed a concert to a very enthusiastic audience. The theme was Christmas in July and as Ian sang such Christmas favorites as, "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "The Christmas Waltz" and "O Holy Night," audience members were taken back to the cool December evenings and the festive feeling of Christmas. Ian brought along a couple of musical guests as well. Katie Wilcoxson of Orlando, Florida and Claire Gerig of Wichita, Kansas, shared the stage and warmed the audience with their music as well. Christmas favorites were shared as well as musical theater numbers and Disney songs. The concert was created as a benefit to Ian Gibb's high school alma mater, Wichita Collegiate School.
Ian said of the event, "I am so happy with how everything turned out on Sunday! The fact that we were able to raise money for my alma mater means the world to me. As I have said before, Wichita Collegiate laid the ground work for my professional career, and I wanted to put this concert together as way to say thank you for all of the support they have given me over the years. It was truly a wonderful day and I want to say thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!"
It was an entertaining night for everyone and a chance to enjoy the Christmas spirit in July.
